공공도서관의 보이드 공간 특성에 관한 연구- 일본공공도서관 사례 분석을 중심으로 -

초록

In the case of public libraries in Japan, where the library system was established and developed earlier than in Korea, the trend of complexation has become stronger since the 2000s, and there are many cases in which most public libraries include void spaces. Libraries in Korea are also recently undergoing remarkable changes as complex cultural facilities, and are endowed with a function as a local community space. After 1980, Japan, which has a similar library system to Korea, was surveyed and analyzed, and the void space characteristics of public libraries derived through the analysis results of void arrangement, lighting, circulation elements within the void, and function of the bottom space can be summarized as follows. First, the void space as the central space of the whole is moved from the center to the outer side, and external connections are strengthened to form an open and dynamic space, forming the character of a community space rather than a simple silent reading space. Second, the void space is endowed with the characteristics of a semi-external space by an open boundary such as a curtain wall, and the characteristic of the community space described above becomes stronger. Third, within the void space, various circulation elements are planned so that various encounters and development can be achieved. Today, when libraries are becoming more than just a place for data reading and knowledge acquisition, but a complex cultural space, the void space of public libraries will exist as an important element in forming an open and dynamic space so that local residents can visit and use the library comfortably. In this study, the changes of the void space in Japanese public libraries by period were analyzed from various angles, and as a result, the direction of the future library construction plan and the possibility of the void space were presented.
