액티브 시니어의 회화 창작 교육 참여 경험에 관한 연구 : 창의적 노화(Creative Aging)의 관점에서

This study examines the experiences of active seniors participating in a regular painting-based art education program at a private art education institution from the perspective of Creative Aging. In-depth interviews were conducted with eight participants in the Seoul metropolitan area, and the data were analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings showed that motivations for participation included long-deferred artistic aspirations, the search for new meaning in life after health crises or retirement, and external factors such as family encouragement and accessibility. During participation, initial fears shifted toward creative immersion, while relationships with peers and family members expanded. After participation, participants experienced psychological recovery, identity reconstruction, and the integration of creative activities into daily life. Across these stages, continuous learning and self-development, self-expression and social connectedness, and the reconstruction of meaning in life emerged as key experiences. These experiences were cyclically interconnected and reinforced continued participation. This study contributes to understanding painting-based art education for active seniors from a Creative Aging perspective and provides practical implications for program design and policy development.
