This study aimed to identify the implications of chasing settlement patterns in automobile design in Korea by observing automobiles developed and sold in Korea in the second half of the 1990s. Fourteen selected vehicles were examined, from the 1996 Tiburon to the 1999 Magnusin, with their rebuilt body package layouts and interior image views. Body proportions, including total lengths, widths, and heights, were analyzed, along with wheelbase measurements. The analysis showed that cars tended to offer more space and roominess, with longer wheelbases to increase rear passenger space, beginning with compact cars, where the wheelbase/overall length ratio was under 60 % in the B-segment. Consequently, space and roominess were treated as the most important factor in Korean markets across vehicle segments, as longer wheelbase preferences became one of the most important factors in the Korean auto market with the popularization of family sedans.
