초록

This study describes the development of a nanocomposite-like microstructure in a commercial Mg-6Al-1Zn alloy with similar to 6 vol.% of Mg17Al12 (beta) through severe plastic deformation via high-ratio differential speed rolling. During the rolling process, a large number of very small spherical p particles (average size of 140 nm) were dynamically precipitated on grain boundaries and dislocations in grain interiors. The processed materials showed superior strength and ductility compared to many other magnesium nanocomposites produced by ex situ methods. (C) 2012 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
