Azimuthal Six-Channel Retrodirective Metagrating

This communication presents a novel azimuthal six-channel retrodirective metagrating (MG). The designed MG employs the planar hexagonal united, to ensure retrodirective channels at every 60 degrees interval in the azimuth direction. The efficiency of the MG can be optimized by adjusting the length and height of the unitcell. resulting in a low-profile MG. The characteristics of MGs operating at elevation angles of theta(i) = 40 degrees, 50 degrees, and 60 degrees are confirmed by the IIFSS full-wave simulation. The MG at theta(i) = 50 degrees is fabricated and measured. The measured results indicate that the MG operates as an azimuthal six-channel with an average retrorellection efficiency of 91%.
