초록
This study was conducted from April 11 to April 14, 2026, through an online survey platform in China. The research objects were waterscape images of artificially designed architectural, landscape, and urban public spaces. Through a preliminary test, a total of 12 evaluation images were selected, with four images for each type, based on type distinguishability, perceptual typicality, and the visual dominance of the water body. A total of 370 responses were collected in the main survey, and after data screening, 358 responses were used for the final analysis. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, one-sample t-tests, repeatedmeasures ANOVA, and post-hoc comparisons. Openended responses were analyzed inductively. The results showed that all three types of waterscapes scored significantly higher than the neutral value of 3 across the four evaluation dimensions, and waterscape type had a significant effect on all dimensions. Specifically, mirror water landscapes showed relatively high scores in aesthetic evaluation and tendency to re-approach, while falling water landscapes showed prominent scores in judgment of stayable place and tendency to stay. Slow-flowing water landscapes received relatively moderate evaluations overall, but maintained positive levels across all dimensions. The open-ended responses indicated that the three types of waterscapes were respectively associated with experiential characteristics such as quiet order, natural comfort, and dynamic vitality. This study demonstrates that the positive effects of waterscapes can extend from aesthetic evaluation to place judgment and behavioral tendency. The differences among the three types of waterscapes should be understood not as a simple hierarchy of superiority, but as different modes of experiential support. This study provides empirical evidence for how different waterstate characteristics differentially support the initial formation possibility of Hydrophilia under static imagebased evaluation conditions. It also provides basic reference material for selecting waterscape types and organizing stay experiences in various functional spaces.
