초록

This study examines how transparent materials in furniture and spatial design influence visual perception. By categorizing visual effects into visual ambiguity, distortion and illusion, and spatial expansion and depth, a survey was conducted with 180 respondents to evaluate the perceptual impact of these effects. Survey results indicate that the intended visual effects were effectively conveyed. Visual ambiguity was observed when transparency blurred object boundaries, creating layered visual experiences. Distortion and illusion were prominent in designs incorporating refraction, reflection, and multi-layered transparency. Spatial expansion and depthwere most evident in large transparent structures utilizing light manipulation. However, some designs did not strongly exhibit these effects, suggesting that transparency alone is insufficient. Effective perception requires light interaction, structural layering, and environmental integration. This study confirms that transparency is a crucial aesthetic tool, enhancing perception and spatial experience. Future research should explore how transparency interacts with light, color, and materials to broaden its applications in design, art, and architecture.
