A Study on the Connectivity with Existing Adjacent Underground Spaces

초록

This study aims to analyze the connectivity between the university underground campus and the basement of adjacent buildings to identify problems and suggest ways to improve the connectivity. Through theoretical considerations, the development of underground areas and the connectivity of underground floor connections according to the expansion and limitations of the university campus were analyzed, and planning elements related to connectivity were derived as connectivity, accessibility, and comfort. The analyses are focused on plan/cross-section elements, surrounding elements, and relationships with underground space for each target site. To summarize the results of the study, first, comfort and a sense of proportion of width-to-height affect connectivity. Second, it is judged necessary to consider the core purpose of connecting the two sides and their visual recognition. Third, a well-connected underground connection can be achieved only when the physical boundaries of the space are minimized and a high level of intimacy and non-barrier access is possible.
