신유럽바우하우스 주거 사례의 공간구성에 관한 연구 - 2025년 NEB Affordable Housing 사례 분석을 통한 창의성 고찰 -

초록

In contemporary architectural discourse, creativity is increasingly equated with visually novel outcomes, a tendency intensified by the spread of generative artificial intelligence. This study argues that creativity in architecture should instead be understood through spatial composition and the organization of relationships. Focusing on four winning projects of the 2025 New European Bauhaus (NEB) Affordable Housing category, the study reviews the integrative design thinking of the Bauhaus, Margaret Boden’s theory of creativity, and the spatial-experiential discussions of Mallgrave and Pallasmaa to establish a framework of layout and boundary, spatial hierarchy, and sharing and relationships. Interpreting each case as a distinct programmatic response to the conditions of contemporary dwelling, the study then derives three spatial operations—combination, expansion, and transition—as an architectural translation of Boden’s combinational, exploratory, and transformational creativity. Beyond these three, the study proposes mediation as a complementary concept that binds the operations into a single creative whole, addressing the dimension in which generated elements form and sustain relationships across differing conditions—a dimension Boden’s account does not fully address. The findings suggest that the creativity of contemporary housing lies not in formal novelty but in how dwelling is related to community, environmental sustainability, and the city, offering a counterpoint to the image-centered notion of creativity reinforced by generative AI.
