Design of Truncated Approximate Multipliers Using 4-2 Compressors with Error Recovery for Image Processing

Approximate computing improves hardware efficiency by strategically trading off accuracy, making it ideal for embedded and mobile systems with strict power and performance constraints. Approximate multipliers are key components in such systems, and the approximate 4-2 compressor plays a vital role by simplifying circuit design, increasing speed, and saving energy. This paper presents design techniques employing approximate 4-2 compressors to enhance the performance of approximate multipliers and minimize errors.
