김홍주 초기･중기 회화에 나타난예술적 정체성의 형성－자크 라캉의 응시 이론을 중심으로－

초록

This study offers a rereading of Kim Hong-joo's early and mid-period paintings through Jacques Lacan's theory of the gaze, tracing the process by which an artistic identity takes shape. Where earlier scholarship has attended to the formal characteristics of each period, the present study approaches Kim's work as a single structural process in which the split subject confronts its own desire and gradually forges an artistic identity. Drawing on Lacan's concepts of the gaze and the objet petit a, the study reads the early object paintings as the stage at which the recognition of desire and dialectical subjectivation first emerge from the conjunction of actual objects and images. The mid-period works are understood, in turn, as a process in which multiple viewpoints and a multi-layered pictorial composition extend the structure of the gaze and deepen the exploration of artistic identity. Grounded in Lacanian psychoanalysis, this study offers an integrated reading of Kim Hong-joo's early and mid-period works within the single structure of artistic identity formation, thereby proposing an interpretive framework for understanding Korean contemporary painting anew.
