Autonomous Robot Mechanism for Ensuring Escape Routes in Large-Scale Disaster Environments

초록

In large-scale disasters such as fires and terrorist incidents occurring in complex living environments, numerous cases of massive casualties have been continuously reported due to the failure to secure safe escape and evacuation routes. The existing research has primarily focused on exploration or fire suppression functions, thereby limiting their capabilities for evacuation guidance and securing escape routes. To solve this problem, we propose an intelligent mobile robot mechanism designed to secure escape routes and provide evacuation guidance. The proposed system is structured as an integrated disaster response robot capable of autonomous entry into fire sites, initial fire suppression, real-time guidance of evacuation paths, and victim search operations. By utilizing an embedded fire-extinguishing foam-spraying mechanism, the robot can secure blocked access routes caused by smoke and flames, thereby extending the golden time for rescue while simultaneously suppressing the spread of the initial fire sources. In addition, the proposed robot incorporates intelligent path-planning and situational-awareness-based evacuation guidance functions that consider human–robot trust and crowd evacuation behavior. These features aim to minimize human casualties during disaster situations. We expect to enhance rescue efficiency in complex disaster environments and enable rescuers to save multiple victims during large-scale disasters.
