Live Mobile Learning System with Dynamically Resizable Slide and Whiteboard on a Medium-Sized Tablet

Since few of the currently available live mobile distance learning systems support the simultaneous view of a slide and a whiteboard, students have difficulty understanding lectures effectively compared to an offline classroom with both a slide projection screen and a blackboard. Thus, we had previously developed a large-sized tablet-based live mobile learning system that shows a slide and a whiteboard simultaneously on a large 12.9-inch tablet. However, this system had some limitations such as high price and low portability due to the large tablet size. Therefore, we propose a live mobile learning system with a dynamically resizable slide and whiteboard on a popular medium-sized tablet. It supports a simultaneous view of a slide and a whiteboard on a 10.9-inch iPad tablet and enables users to dynamically increase the area of either one. The results of a preliminary evaluation suggest that the proposed system provides higher comprehensibility of lectures than other systems such as Webex. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2027.
