The current study examines the self-efficacy of older adults (ages 65-80) about their everyday use of technology and online civic and political engagement. In-depth interviews with participants in Korea, a technologically advanced country, reveal that they possess high technology self-efficacy in daily technology usage but exhibit low technology self-efficacy in areas with heightened risks (e.g. online banking). Regarding online civic and political engagement, the findings indicate that older adults' high intention to maintain relationships with existing social ties fosters active online civic participation. However, they have limited socio-political trust and limited self-efficacy in online political engagement, yet still desire to contribute to society, leading them to participate in offline activities.
